Our troop is informally earning petals this year during troop time, but I wanted to really take advantage of this opportunity, so we are earning petals on our own time as well. Tessa constantly flips through The Daisy Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting and can't wait to complete all of the Flower Friends' stories and activities.
What We Did
- Discussed the Lupe the Lupine (Light Blue), Honest and Fair petal.
- Read "Lupe's Story: A Fair Turn in the Flower Garden" from The Daisy Girl's Guide to Girl Scouting.
- Talked about "Lupe's Story" per patch requirements.
- Acted out "Lupe's Story" with Flower Friends craft stick puppets.
- Practiced being honest and fair by playing a cooperative flower friends drawing game that I designed based on the Pick and Draw game. I also had Tessa pass out napkins to every girl at a previous troop meeting.
- Completed the "Congratulations!" portion of the Lupe the Lupine (Light Blue), Honest and Fair petal.
Tessa and I acted out "Lupe's Story" with Flower Friends craft stick puppets. Tessa loved this part of earning Lupe's petal. It was her idea to use her wooden cheese as props. |
Our flower friend drawings after playing three rounds. Tessa was being fruity and sneaked into my pic. |

Hi! I realize that this is an old post, but I'd love to know more about the drawing game you did for this petal. Did you just take turns drawing and coloring? My daughter will be earning this petal soon, and I'm having trouble finding ideas.
ReplyDeleteWelcome! Thanks so much for posting. Yes, the card game is a cooperative game and is played very similarly to the Pick and Draw game that I linked above. I can't remember exactly why I didn't post the card set. I think I had some technical glitches with it when I designed it. I'm not sure now.
DeleteHop over to Pinterest and type in "roll a game". Or, search for a specific theme like "roll a monster" or "roll a snowman" or "roll a robot" and there will be dice games that are very similar in game play. You roll the dice and either draw or in some way piece together a critter of some sort. The point is to take turns, which is honest and fair. You could really play any game, a board game even, and achieve the same goal.
